Advocacy November-December 2005

In November 2005, at their biennial conventions, both the Reform and Conservative movements announced new efforts relating to encouraging conversion. We were the major voice quoted in the press expressing concern and caution about the new efforts.

Jennifer Siegel's November 25, 2005 story in the Forward and Amy Klein's December 9, 2005 article in the Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles quoted Ed Case on the Reform efforts, as did Sue Fishkoff's December 7, 2005 story for JTA covering the Conservative efforts. The Forward story was reprinted in Ha'aretz and the JTA article was picked up by numerous local Jewish papers, including, for example, the Baltimore Jewish Times.

A front-page story on the conversion efforts that featured InterfaithFamily.com appeared in the Boston Jewish Advocate on December 15, 2005, as did a letter to the editor from Ed Case the following week.

Most notably, the "Taste" column in the December 16, 2005 Wall Street Journal, by Naomi Schaefer Riley, quoted Ed Case on this issue.
