I loved reading this article, Davida. Congratulations on a marriage based on values and an obvious love of each other’s spirits, which is so much more important than anything else. I’m a Baha’i, and although I’m not married, I gives me hope for the institution of marriage when I read stories like this. Thanks for posting.

Hi Davida! I’ve been raised by two reform Jewish parents but my own faith is similar to that of your husband’s. I was wondering if I could talk with you via email about two things:
1. I’m very interested in the Bahai faith but haven’t met many Bahai persons. Could you tell me more about the Bahai faith? What are some of your husband’s beliefs and practices? Do you know yet how you and your husband will raise your kid religion-wise? I realize these are all personal questions so feel free to not respond to any of them.
2. I’m going to American University this fall and will be focusing on Middle Eastern studies like you did. The AU school in Egypt is one of the places I’m considering going for study abroad. Can you tell me what it was like there? I realize it may be quite different now, but I’d like to hear someone’s first-hand account, most especially as a Jew, in studying there, not just for my own sake but to help put my mother’s fear in perspective.

You can reach me at

Thank you very much for writing this article! I hope to hear from you 🙂

Hi Davida – I was thrilled to read your article! I’m Jewish and my wife is Baha’i, and we’ve just passed the 11 year mark in our wonderful marraige, which has been full of mutual discovery and ever growing appreciation for one another’s faith. Raising children has brought a new dimension to our relationship and one that we’ve very much welcomed – my wife now lights the Shabbat candles on Friday and I join with her to celebrate Baha’i Feast. Our interfaith marriage has been such a blessing – I hope that yours continues to be, too!

Thanks for sharing your story – it was inspiring! i’m someone in an interfaith relationship (two different faiths from yours and your husbands). We’re very respectful of one another’s heritages, but one of things i’m struggling with is how to deal with some of the technical differences in religions that impact daily life. if you are open to sharing (and totally understand if you are not!), how did you and your husband deal with some of those types of things. For example, if he happens to partake in the Bahai annual fasting period, do you as well? Does he partake in Jewish rituals that you follow?

Thanks very much for sharing!

This is really inspiring – my boyfriend is Baha’i and they date looking for marriage. It’s nice to know that it has been done (and it is successful!) Thanks, Davida!
