True or false: Traveling with my partner, who was brought up in a different religious tradition, gave me a richer perspective on many sites.

Hello, I am Steven Ammer and I am thinking about purchasing a home in Cork (Macroon) Ireland. My wife and I are pleased to hear their is a Jewish community in Ireland. We sent an e-mail to the synagogue web page but are unsure if it went through. If we come to Cork we will be sure to attend your synagogue. We plan to visit within the next two years to meet everyone and view the area. If we can please have a point of contact in the area that would be wonderful. We hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks,
Steven and Samantha Ammer

Hi Steven and Samantha,

Fred Rosehill would be the person to contact regarding the synagogue
and the Jewish community in Cork. I could send you his e-mail off-line.

Judith

If there is a synagogue in your area, you should contact them. They should be able to help you.

I saw your posting about the Jewish Community of Cork. My family lived in Cork from 1990-1992. We were the only Jewish family. There are less than 10 Jews, most of them elderly. For holidays, Dublin sent a minyan. There is a synagogue, but no regular services. Mr. Fred Rosehill was the head of the community. I have 2 phone numbers for him in Cork: 870413 and 274280. Hopefully one of those is still valid. Unfortunately, Gerald Goldberg, who was the Lord Mayor of Cork at one time, passed away this year. When we livbed in Cork, he organized Chanukah celebrations, High Holiday services, and Purim celebrations. I don't know if there are any organized religious celebrations anymore. Good luck. Phyllis

Refers to the traditional course of events, or service, surrounding the Passover and Tu B'Shevat meals. Place of Jewish worship, referring to both the room where it occurs and the building where it occurs. Colloquially referred to as "temple." Chanukah is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt of the 2nd Century BCE. It is marked by the lighting of a menorah.
