When my husband read an early draft of this essay, he asked, "Why doesn't her partner have to support our daughter? After all, they agreed to raise children as Jews." What does it mean to raise a Jewish child?
A great way for Jewish professionals and volunteers who work with and provide programming for people in interfaith relationships to locate resources and trainings to build more welcome into their Jewish communities; connect with and learn from each other; and publicize and enhance their programs and services.
Teenage girls in grades 7 and 8 will discuss body image, nutrition, fitness and fashion while building self confidence and self esteem in an eight-week program called TY! True You. The program will be held at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center in Newton on Wednesdays from 5-6pm beginning September 19.
TY! True You will be lead by nutritionist Jen Tuttelman, licensed social worker Katy Colthart, nurse practitioner Kaitie Lenahan, and fashion consultant Tracilee Messina, who will create a fun, relaxed and supportive atmosphere to discuss these important teenage issues. Cost for the program is $349 ($299 for JCC members). Register at bostonjcc.org or contact 617-558-6459 or email@example.com
