A great way for Jewish professionals and volunteers who work with and provide programming for people in interfaith relationships to locate resources and trainings to build more welcome into their Jewish communities; connect with and learn from each other; and publicize and enhance their programs and services.
Join the San Diego Jewish Film Festival and Jewish Family Service to explore the interfaith family
experience, including a screening of the film Out of Faith followed by a facilitated discussion.
Out of Faith is a feature-length documentary that follows three generations as they struggle with complex and emotionally-charged conflicts over intermarriage, familial duty, ethnic identity, and cultural continuity and survival. How does the grandparents’ experience as Holocaust survivors inform their views on intermarriage? If tension already exists among the family following intermarriage, how will a new great grandchild be accepted? Follow the Welbel family for three years as they navigate their complicated journey as an interfaith family.
“ I believe that Out of Faith explores a classic American
dilemma, as seen through the prism of this Jewish family. It’s my hope that it can be used as a springboard for discussion about interfaith marriage...”
– Lisa Leeman, DIRECTOR
Interfaith families are welcome and encouraged to join in the discussion!
