About Us:

Mechon Hadar is the leading address for educating, inspiring and engaging young Jews who are building grassroots Jewish communities across the country. We combine high quality immersion learning programs, including the first year-round egalitarian yeshiva in North America, with a national network of independent minyanim. The staff of Mechon Hadar has experienced inordinate success in fostering the growth of a new generation of young Jewish community-builders, themselves engaging close to 20,000 Jews across North America. At the public forum of our National Independent Minyan Conference in November 2008, Professor Jonathan Sarna, the leading professor of American Jewish history, declared that the independent minyanim are “the most exciting development in American Judaism in the last 30 years.” Mechon Hadar, whose founders spurred this independent minyan movement, is working to support the leadership of these minyanim, providing resources, networking and consulting in order to help these communities succeed and grow to their full potential. Since its founding, Mechon Hadar has consulted to 93 minyanim and synagogues in 44 cities across North America and Israel. In order to achieve its long-term goal of fostering vibrant Jewish communities, Mechon Hadar plans to expand the Minyan Project in 2009-10.
