- This group is for people in Chicagoland that have used our Preparing for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah in Your Interfaith Family material. The group provides a way for members to connect. InterfaithFamily/Chicago and members start discussions and add events that are relevant to interfaith families preparing for this important life-cycle event. Preparing for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah in Your Interfaith Family is a set of online material that explores major aspects of the bar/bat mitzvah ceremony and experience. It reviews the history of the bar/bat mitzvah ceremony, the meaning of Torah, putting the "mitzvah" back in the bar/bat mitzvah, Shabbat morning and evening worship, ritual policies in synagogues, the enduring Jewish values to hold dear, and how to explain this to family members and friends who are not Jewish. Every part of this course was created with modern interfaith families in mind. Not an alumni, but interested in Preparing for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah in Your Interfaith Family?
