- BAYIT - HEBREW FOR HOME - IS WHERE YOUNG CHILDREN IN EVANSTON, IL WILL BE ENRICHED IN EXPLORATION OF JUDAISM, HEBREW AND CULTURE IN FALL 2013. Bayit welcomes interfaith, non-denominational and independent families! Our community will be a fun place to be Jewish after school for kids pre-K-5th grade and their families in Fall 2013. Children will arrive at varying times after school, ranging from 3:00-4:00 p.m.; they will stay until 5:30-6:00 p.m. The day will include focused learning on a Jewish topic or theme, utilizing arts and crafts, music, movement, drama/improv, nature, or sports. Children will eat snacks together and spend time outside. Hebrew will be infused throughout the program. Attendance will be flexible however multiple days are encouraged. One day of the week will be a modified schedule to accommodate 4-year old children. Activities will encourage children to forge bonds with their Jewish peers from local schools in a vibrant but relaxed environment. Children's input will set the culture and curriculum for Jewish enrichment. Busy families will enjoy a stress-free way to introduce their children to Jewish learning and peoplehood. Bayit is appropriate for area children enrolled in after-school religious schools, in day schools, and for those not currently enrolled in Jewish education. We hope to create an inclusive, welcoming Jewish community of children and their families in Evanston and beyond. Please join us!
