A great way for Jewish professionals and volunteers who work with and provide programming for people in interfaith relationships to locate resources and trainings to build more welcome into their Jewish communities; connect with and learn from each other; and publicize and enhance their programs and services.
Kol Hadash was organized in 1987 as the Northern California Chapter of the Society for Humanistic Judaism, by a handful of individuals who were looking for a way to celebrate their cultural Jewish identity without compromising their values and ideals.
Today, Kol Hadash is a community with more than 150 members in the Bay Area(affiliated with The Society for Humanistic Judaism). We are members of various organizations including the Jewish Federation's Synagogue Presidents' Council, the East Bay Council of Rabbis, and the Jewish Community Relations Council. We support and participate in Jewish community functions such as book fairs.
Included in the diverse membership are couples with mixed religious backgrounds, singles, families with children and Holocaust survivors. If you are uncomfortable with liturgy that refers to a higher power, you will feel welcome in our community.
Our backgrounds may be different. We may not speak in one voice. But that's what makes us an exciting, vibrant community.
