About Me

I began my professional life as a concert modern dancer, choreographer, and somatic educator, traveling all over the US and to Canada, France and Hungary to perform and teach. In my 30's I began to study a number of forms of somatic movement therapy, became certified in Body-Mind Centering® (the work of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen), and worked individually with all kinds of folks, young and old, who wished to "embody" more fully. Around the same time I began to meditate extensively, mainly in the Theravadan Buddhist tradition. This deep spiritual work brought me back to my Jewish roots (I was raised and well educated in the Reform movement outside Chicago), and eventually to rabbinical school in Los Angeles. My rabbinical work has centered around fostering a grounded and ecstatically joyful Jewish practice in a number of settings, including three years of congregational work with the Aquarian Minyan, a Jewish Renewal community in San Francisco's East Bay; Jewish meditation retreat leadership; and individual sessions in Spiritual Direction. I direct the Embodying Spirit, En-spiriting Body Jewish embodiment leadership training, a project of Ruach Ha'Aretz and the ALEPH Alliance for Jewish Renewal.
