The Shehecheyanu is a joyous blessing that is recited at the arrival of any long awaited occasion.
This blessing speaks to our thankfulness for three parts of life:
- 1st, for life itself and the people who brought us into the world.
- 2nd, for the opportunities and people who helped raise us up to the life we live today.
- 3rd, for this very moment of joy and celebration.
English translation:
Blessed are You, O God, for giving us life, sustaining us and allowing us to reach this joyous time.
Phonetic Hebrew transliteration:
Baruch Atah Adonai Eloheinu Melech Ha-Olam shecheyanu v'kiy'manu v'higyanu lazman hazeh.
