October 22, 2013

Dear Friends,
Time is flying and while we're just getting used to the change in seasons it seems we're already thinking about super-holiday Thanksgivukkah, the once-in-a-lifetime convergence of a secular and Jewish holiday. We have contributed some content to the fantastic website ThanksgivukkahBoston.com, and are sharing a thoughtful holiday guide below. More to come in November.

I'm also excited to share with you our two newest members of the IFF family. Jodi Bromberg is joining us as our president, currently transitioning from the Philadelphia area to our Boston headquarters. And Josh Troderman has also joined us as the Director or InterfaithFamily/Boston, the newest member or our InterfaithFamily/Your Community initiative. Welcome!

Hebrew for "daughter of the commandments." In modern Jewish practice, Jewish girls come of age at 12 or 13. When a girl comes of age, she is officially a bat mitzvah and considered an adult. The term is commonly used as a short-hand for the bat mitzvah's coming-of-age ceremony and/or celebration. The male equivalent is "bar mitzvah." A member of the Jewish clergy who leads a congregation in songful prayer. ("Hazzan" in Hebrew.)
