The online magazine InterfaithFamily.com was launched in November 1998 by Jewish Family & Life. Edmund Case became the publisher of the magazine in May 1999. In 2001 Case founded the independent non-profit InterfaithFamily.com, Inc. to better serve the needs of interfaith families by acquiring the magazine, expanding the website to offer additional resources, and creating an advocacy membership association. Ronnie Friedland has been the editor of the magazine since its inception.
Mission
InterfaithFamily.com empowers interfaith families to make Jewish choices for themselves and their children, and encourages the Jewish community to welcome interfaith families. We support and inform interfaith families with useful resource materials. We connect interfaith families to local Jewish communities. We build community for interfaith families. And we advocate for inclusive attitudes, policies and practices.
Services
Internet Magazine: InterfaithFamily.com produces the only Jewish publication in the world, either online or in print, that reaches out directly to interfaith families. We deliver helpful, non-judgmental information and a warm welcome that be accessed privately, at any time convenient to the user. Our website is the leading online resource for interfaith families. InterfaithFamily.com also produced the first-of-its-kind anthology, The Guide to Jewish Interfaith Family Life: An InterfaithFamily.com Handbook (Jewish Lights Publishing, 2001), to offer much-needed resources for interfaith families seeking to explore Jewish life.
Connections: The "Connections In Your Area" section of our website, developed in partnership with PlanitJewish.com, lists current, updated information about programs and organizations in local Jewish communities throughout North America that welcome the participation of interfaith families. Organizations can learn how to be listed and to add programs by contacting connections@interfaithfamily.com.
Building Community: Our online discussions allow readers to support and inform each other by sharing their experiences. The InterfaithFamily.com Network, our membership association, gives members the opportunity to meet each other in both online and in-person groups.
Advocacy: The InterfaithFamily.com Network is a grass-roots advocacy association working to foster a Jewish community that is genuinely open, welcoming and inclusive -- one that understands, and is sensitive to, the realities of today's interfaith families, and encourages their Jewish choices. The Network advocates for attitudes, policies and practices that Jewish organizations and leaders can use to engage and include interfaith families within the Jewish community.
