I fail to see the association between Sarkozy and Judaism, which is tenuous at best.  He had a single Jewish grandparent, his maternal grandfather, but that grandfather converted to Catholicism.  Even if he had not converted, Sarkozy would still not be Jewish, because that is determined by matrilineal descent.

this is true.  even if his maternal grandfather didn't convert to catholocism, the maternal grandmother IS catholic.
