As the American Academy of Pediatrics says there is no medical evidence that circumcision reduces sexual sensation.

I agrre with you therel and I'm a Wiccan married to a Jew; says it all and no I didn't have my son done just because of pime frefence... not at all!!!

Okay, something went funny with the computer, surprise surprise!  Well, I have been an active member in parenting sites and hell, I got a lot of banter for being in favour!  To me, my husband's relligion is important but he wasn't even that decided on that issue to be honest but, although I aknowledge that a lot of religious practices were created by pure geographic necessity (hot countries) I still understand that they have an even medical claim today.  My sister in law, for instance, on my side (a Brit) is a medical doctor (cardiologist in fact) and she thinks there are certainly merits in the argument for circumcission.  I have hear, at infinitum, that the Australian and US medical bodies found not reason to do it routinenly but this is probably a cutting-public-costs exercise.  I mean they have been pretty vocal against smoking, say, if something was undoubtedly bad for you or your child, they would be vocal...

I mean, a lot of my family members don't endorse this and I certainly not 'casting stones' against anyone against, but hey this is supposed to be a democracy, right?  My two shillings is that it could have health benefits plus yes the idea of belonging etc (which I wanted for my son).  I do feel a bit strong about this, mainly although in the wrong way because of the opposition I got in parenting forums.

No mother or father want to see their son in pain but then again, okay, off topic perhaps I had a c-sec with my boy, which I didn't want (wanted a home birth), and it turned out to be one of the greatest experiences in my life!  I mean, to me is all about creating a stong family with love and support no matter how you got there and well, with religion I would say compromise but I know my priest friends would jump up me because, yes often mixed teachings leads to agnosticism or atheism in the children but ok, to me that's still a choice.  I would like my son to know about Judaism, Christianism, Paganism and all the rest and for him, himself to make an 'informed' choice when he is the right age. I would also like him to remember that communities of more or less any faith or denomination can be very helpful and positive sources.  One thing I love about Judaism is the sense of community actually.  Even non-practising people are still considered to belong, that to me is pretty great but I must say I do prefer the most liberal branches.

Good grief, I have just re-read that I apologise for the huge amount of typos and the like.  I clearly was very tired when I wrote it but hopefully I made my point any way.  *blushes* lol
