I was born and raised a Christian. Never questioned what I was being spoon feed as my faith, was very involved in the church and the community. I met my husband at church about 4 years ago, we sang in the choir together, used to pray together, we even tried to start our own bible study group...We gradually stopped attending church and haven't actively practiced the christian faith in over a year. we didn't talk much about God, jesus, church or faith in any depth.  This time away from church gave me the chance to take a real look at what and who I believe in and what faith really means to me. The past few months I have been studying Judaism and am starting to get really excited about possibly converting. I start intro to Judaism classes soon and feel the Judaism is where I belong. I have told my husband that I'm researching things and i have gone to synagogue a few times. Bought a menorah and recognized Hanukkah this year. I ask him if he has questions or would like to go with me to synagogue with me but he always brushes me off. He knows I'm really excited about this and is respectful of my decisions, but I know he is freaking out, just trying not to show it. How do I continue with my studies and possible conversion and not totally freak my husband out?

If you're still reading the boards, I'd love to hear how this has worked out nearly a year later...

I am sure different Rabbi's will handle situations differently, but mine will not convert one spouse and not the other, so you may want to check into that.
Good luck with your studies.

I would be interested to know how it went as well. I am converting without my husband but he is not religious. It would be very difficult for us to make it work if he were a Christian.

My husband isn't religious at all, but he's agreed to go to Intro to Judiasm classes with me beginning in January. I hope he doesn't freak out on me...
