MAZEL TOV!! I too, am a Jew by choice. I too, converted in my 40th year! It's apropros that we both wandered a spiritual desert for 40 yrs. I have never doubted that this is the right, the ONLY choice for me. I am part of an incredible religious family, and after more than a decade, I now read Torah on a regular basis! I came alive when I entered the mikveh....go ahead and cry when it's your turn. It's a time for those joyous tears!! CONGRATULATIONS!
