High Holiday Snapshot 2007 General

Synagogues and Jewish organizations throughout the country are sponsoring events and services for and about the High Hoidays, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Many of these events and services are tailored to the needs of interfaith families and all are very welcoming organizations. Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins Wednesday evening, Sept. 12, and is celebrated through Sept. 14.  Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, begins Friday evening, Sept. 21, and ends at sundown on Sept. 22.  Here are some High Holiday events we think you'll be interested in. The Jewish New Year. The Jewish Day of Atonement, the final day of the ten Days of Awe that begin with Rosh Hashanah. Occurs during the fall and marked by a 24-hour fast. One of the most important Jewish holidays.
