The ritual removal of the foreskin of the penis from boys on the eighth day after they are born. Following the circumcision, several blessings are recited and a celebration is held. More formally known as "brit milah." Ceremony marking the end of Shabbat. Language once widely spoken by Jews in Eastern Europe, it\'s a hybrid of German and Hebrew. No longer commonly spoken, although many Yiddish words, such as "shtick," are part of common parlance.
