A la Mode au Monde with Musica Pacifica

Members of Musica Pacifica play music that crosses historical and stylistic boundaries.

Enjoy a potpourri of medieval, Renaissance, traditional and world music, performed on a panoply of bowed, blown, plucked and hit instruments. These may include the recorder, clarinet, violin, harp, harpsichord and multiple percussion instruments.

Judith Linsenberg is acclaimed for her virtuosity and fearless playing of the recorder. Winner of national performance awards, she has played with many ensembles throughout the US and Europe and recorded for numerous labels. She holds a doctorate in early music from Stanford University, and has been a visiting professor at the Vienna Conservatory and Indiana University’s Early Music Institute.

Multi-instrumentalist Shira Kammen has studied early and traditional music of all kinds. A member of the early music Ensemble Alcatraz and Project Ars Nova, she founded Class V Music. She has taught at music workshops and seminars, and coached students of early music. She has played on movie and television soundtracks when weird medieval instruments are needed.

Katherine Heater plays keyboards with Bay Area early music groups and has performed throughout the US. She holds a BA in music from UC Berkeley and a Masters of Music in historical performance from Oberlin Conservatory. She teaches privately as well as at UC Berkeley and The Crowden Music Center.

Peter Maund studied percussion at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and music, folklore and ethnomusicology at UC Berkeley. A founding member of Ensemble Alcatraz and Alasdair Fraser’s Skyedance, he has performed with early and contemporary music ensembles. The author of “Percussion” in A Performer’s Guide to Medieval Music, he has served on the faculty of UC Berkeley and taught workshops throughout the US and Europe. He can be heard on over 60 recordings.

Monthly Music at Noon concerts include a delicious hot buffet lunch before the concert.
