Temple Beth David, Canton, Hosts Special Selichot Film & Service

September 21 @ 7:45 pm - September 22 @ 12:00 am

Free

Selichot: in Hebrew, it translates to “forgiveness.”

The High Holiday season begins with Rosh HaShanah and the start of the new month of Tishrei. Jewish tradition, teaches that the preceding month of Elul is a time of soul-searching and reflection to prepare oneself for the magnitude of the Days of Awe. It is during this time that we observe Selichot. Join us on Saturday evening, September 21 for programming exploring themes of repentance and forgiveness.

7:45 p.m. Havdalah

8:00 p.m. Film & Discussion. “The Red Sea Diving Resort” – A 2019 spy thriller. Undercover Israeli Mossad agents open a fake hotel to real tourists as a cover to help smuggle thousands of Ethiopian refugees to safety. Inspired by true events.

10:30 pm -Selichot Service. During the Selichot service, we invite the congregation to assist in the changing the ark’s curtain and the Torah covers to those specifically designed for the High Holidays, which are all white. They represent purity and the wish that through repentance, our sins will be made white as snow (Isaiah 1:18).
